Arnhem:
Arnhem (154.000 inwoners) ligt op ongeveer 20 kilometer van de Duitse grens. De stad gaat aan de noordzijde over in De Veluwe, het grootste natuurgebied van Nederland. In dit bosrijke deel van de stad bevinden zich Papendal en Valkenhuizen. Overigens heeft Arnhem wel meer te bieden dan bos alleen: het levendige centrum is het waard om ontdekt te worden. Vooral in het gebied rondom de Korenmarkt kan je heel wat gezellige uurtjes doorbrengen.
Arnhem (154,000 inhabitants) is approximately 20 kilometers from the German border. On the north side, the city becomes De Veluwe, the largest nature reserve in the Netherlands. Papendal and Valkenhuizen are located in this wooded part of the city. By the way, Arnhem has more to offer than forest alone: the lively center is worth exploring. Especially in the area around the Korenmarkt you can spend a lot of pleasant hours.
Burgers Zoo:
Burger's Zoo in Arnhem (op 3 kilometer van sportcentrum Valkenhuizen) is één van de mooiste dierentuinen van Europa. Maar het is meer dan alleen een dierentuin. Al in 1968 kon je er voor het eerst ‘op safari’ en in de jaren daarna opende de dierentuin steeds meer spectaculaire attracties zoals Burger's Bush, ‘s werelds eerste overdekte tropisch regenwoud, maar ook de mangrove, de woestijn en de oceaan trekken zeer veel publiek.

Het Nederlands Openlucht Museum (op 2 kilometer van sportcentrum Valkenhuizen) is een reis terug in de tijd. Dit prachtige park heeft meer dan 80 huizen, boerderijen en molens uit verschillende delen en tijdperken van Nederland. Zo krijgen bezoekers een uniek beeld van het leven en werk in Nederland gedurende de afgelopen 250 jaar.
The Netherlands Open Air Museum (2 kilometres from the Valkenhuizen sports centre) is a journey into the past. This beautiful park has more than 80 houses, farms and mills from all parts of the Netherlands, representing various periods in Dutch history. Visitor can get a unique picture of how people lived and worked in the Netherlands during the last 250 years.

Stadion Gelredome
Het Gelredome is een van de grote voetbal stadions een waar het dak van kan sluiten en zeer bijzonder de grasmat kan onder de zuid tribune naar buiten geschoven worden.Deze flexibiliteit maakt GelreDome tot het grootste theater van Nederland. In vijf uur tijd verandert het complex van gedaante. Bijvoorbeeld van een voetbalstadion in een poptempel of van een tennisarena in een beursgebouw.
Naast sterren als Nikos Machlas, Wilfried Bony, Theo Janssen en Marco van Ginkel stonden ook tientallen wereldsterren in GelreDome. Onder andere Madonna, Janet Jackson, U2, Backstreet Boys, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Britney Spears, Spice Girls, Paul McCartney, Alicia Keys, Tina Turner en Rihanna gaven spetterende shows. Ook Nederlandse topartiesten als DJ Tiesto, Marco Borsato, Anouk, André Rieu, Ilse de Lange en Frans Bauer voelen zich thuis in het grootste theater van Nederland en kozen GelreDome meerdere keren als decor voor hun shows.

The Gelredome is one of the large football stadiums that can close the roof and the turf can be slid out under the south tribune in particular. This flexibility makes GelreDome the largest theater in the Netherlands. The complex changes shape in five hours. For example, from a football stadium in a pop temple or from a tennis arena in a trade show building.
